JP graduated from Auburn University in 1996 with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. He worked in multiple sports settings as a student trainer. He then attended and graduated from UAB, where he earned a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy in 1998. He has continued his studies in manual therapy and sports medicine. He has clinical experience with inpatient & outpatient settings which include pediatrics to geriatrics.

After a four year stay in Gadsden, AL working as a physical therapist and clinical director, he moved back to Birmingham, AL to start Beyond Physical Therapy, with his sister and fellow physical therapist, LeAnne Church.

He has been in Birmingham since 2002 and continues to work as a partner of Beyond PT. He is continuing his studies and practice with a focus on manual physical therapy and therapeutic exercises for rehabilitiation of acute & chronic pain.

JP lives in Vestavia, with his wife Suzanne of 17 years, and their son Jack.
